Background Information
Indonesia is one of the world's top coffee producing and exporting nations. Plantations have been established on many of the islands due to the ideal climate for producing coffee. Small coffee plantations cover much of the Indonesian islands, thus making it difficult to safeguard stable production volumes and the quality of the crops that are produced. These issues have caused Indonesia to lose some of its competitiveness in the international market. The primary coffee growing region in Bali, Indonesia is Kintamani Highlands. Coffee is grown in the volcanic soils of Mount Agung along with citrus trees that produce shade and additional income for the farmers.  The majority of coffee produced in Indonesia has always been the Robusta varietal, which is a lower quality coffee bean, though higher-quality Arabica varietal is becoming more common, it can be difficult to find.
 
Our Offering
Our Bali Blue Moon Organic offering comes from family-owned farms in the Kintamani Highlands of Bali Indonesia. The coffee cherries are hand-picked, wet-hulled, and placed on raised beds to dry in the sun.
